I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Simplicity rules.

This past month I moved across the country, back to the Seattle, Washington area.  I love it here!  And, I’m glad to be back.
This trip back was done with everything I own able to fit into my truck with the top carrier.  It was not really that tight of a fit.  That’s mostly because I don’t [...]

sticky posts

In the interest of generating conversation and helping spur writing ideas, I’m using a new feature called “sticky posts” that keeps a specific post stuck to the front page.  I’m sure I’ll learn many other ways to use this.  Right now I think it’s a cool idea and a nice way to feature content.

home

What does “home” mean to you?
I’m listening. Please leave your thoughts in the comments.

Summer’s Gallant Prose

As I sit in the back yard, I notice the various homes around me, the various yards, the various fences and sheds.  I notice things, things that normally would not matter and may not matter much now, but I notice them.
There are little rabbits.  There are squirrels, squirrels that sneak up on trees and then [...]

Podcasts and Inspirations and Minnesota

I’m listening to Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac.  It was easy to fetch via iTunes and have it sync on my new iPhone.  I’m inspired, both by the ease with which this technology works, and by the soothing voice of Garrison Keillor.  It just seams to put things in perspective… you know, Lake Wobegon and [...]

write a book
lose 30 pounds
go to hawaii
simplify material possessions
move to midwest

Those are not prioritized.  The list is limited to 5.  More would overwhelm me.  Fewer would not challenge me.  I can do it.  I will do it.  I will do it by August 31, 2008.  ~T. W. Getsch ~Saturday, May 24th, 2008

mini funk

So, I’m in Minnesota.  I surprised my mom for Mother’s Day.  I had my knee surgery.  Physical Therapy is going great.  I’ve spent good time with most friends and family that are around.  But, I’m in this mini funk.  Why?
I think it’s because I’ve been so geared up to GO, GO, GO for so long. [...]

laugh, think, cry

“To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be [...]
