I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Do the updates!

I work with computers and software all day long.  I have now, for more than a decade.  Individuals and businesses have every excuse under the sun to not do updates and to not have test environments.
The reality is that applying the updates and testing is a fixed cost and can be planned.  Repairing and troubleshooting [...]

mini transfortmations

Apple is evil.  –>  Apple rocks!  I love my MacBook Air.  I love my iPhone.  Good customer service goes a LONG way!  Great customer service breads loyalty.
Anthony Bourdain is stupid.  –>  Anthony Bourdain rules!  No Reservations kicks butt.  Kitchen Confidential sparked all sorts of creativity.  Writing and reading things that stretch my horizons is healthy [...]

If Job Applicants Designed Selection Procedures

The application form would be easily completed within a short period of time.
The job requirements would ask for what is truly required to do the job.
No one would be invited to interview for a job that is already filled.
Applicants would receive an acknowledgement notice once their application is received.
They would [...]

sun and light are big

I’m in the process of moving from my apartment, where I’ve been for 5 years, and saying good byes to many people, and also purging lots of material possessions.  I’m not going to make any quick judgements right now.  I will say this: Sun and light are big!  I’ve only been back in Seattle for [...]

Quick Thoughts: back on a PC

After about a month being on vacation and traveling and using my new MacBook Air laptop, almost 100% of that time, I am now back on a Windows Vista PC desktop. I thought I’d note a few quick thoughts.
Everything I’ve tried to do on the PC is slower than it is on a Mac.

ONLY $1017.00!

Just thought I’d mention that the KG Finals shoes are only $1017.00.  Yeah, I’ll take just 2 or 3.  NOT!  This is just a silly, stupid thing! I hope nobody buys any and they find something better to do with their money and time.  Like I said, silly and stupid, [...]

Learning to Change-Changing to Learn

Learning to Change-Changing to Learn

Notice my URL… now.
I found this video via this post.
It’s particularly interesting to me because I just had a discussion with a good friend.  That discussion was directly about this topic and how we have different viewpoints and different aspects of this topic in our lives.
I’m listening.
I’m [...]

mini funk

So, I’m in Minnesota.  I surprised my mom for Mother’s Day.  I had my knee surgery.  Physical Therapy is going great.  I’ve spent good time with most friends and family that are around.  But, I’m in this mini funk.  Why?
I think it’s because I’ve been so geared up to GO, GO, GO for so long. [...]

Fake Your Way to Reality

Recently I’ve had a number of opportunities to listen to people’s stories, to people’s daily happenings, to people’s frustrations, to peoples’s pieces of their lives.  Yesterday I was particularly interested in a friend’s perspectives on some political things.  I genuinely wanted to understand and to see if his perspectives would add some different colors to [...]

To the person(s) who broke into my truck on Tuesday…

You may have stolen my phone charger, my camera, one pair of sunglasses, a pair of gloves, the owner’s manual, and some binoculars…

…but you didn’t get the rhinestone sunglasses! And, you didn’t get me to stop smiling. So, HA!

Status Updates

I just added this as my Facebook status.  “Toby is quagmire laden, feeling morose, exhausted, refreshed, enlightened, verbose, confused, capable, smart, hungry, thirsty, and finally some enchanted melancholy.”
