While I only claim to be an amateur photographer, I also like to learn a little bit more about taking certain types of pictures, but only a little bit of that learning at a time. So, short articles like, “Shooting Panoramas by Jay Dickman” are great to spend a few minutes on and they can really make for some better pics.

Headed Up

My favorite pic from my recent trip to DC is this one, from the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The full set of those pictures is viewable as a set and a slideshow.

I think this one is the most interesting for a few reasons. It’s also one of my new SuperFavs. For me, it signifies so much more than just a trip to DC and so much more than just the museum. It’s off to the the side, clearly not a focal point. Yet it’s going somewhere clear, albeit unknown. And, it’s headed up to something bright!

Update: This is another one that I like from that set. It shows a lot more of “what’s going on around us” and it adds some more perspective.

March 20 is today’s date. This year it’s the 80th day of the year (leap year). There are 286 days remaining. It’s the first day of Spring! It’s also plenty of other things. Three of those things, I think are really cool.

Today is World Storytelling Day!

Today is the birthday of Frederick W. Taylor – an American efficiency expert. We share the same bent towards that. We share the same middle initial. If he was alive today, he would be 152 years old today. We don’t share that.

I am still around, and today is my birthday! I’m 36 today.

Here’s lookin’ at you, kid! Cheers!

OK, I’m on MySpace and it’s kinda fun. I’m up there for the fun stuff. Isn’t that what a 35 year old bachelor is supposed to do… ‘n shit. (I’m pretty sure that’s the second time I’ve actually ”cussed” on my blog. Isn’t it fun.) I’ve got plenty of other more mature and more detailed info online. A guy’s gotta have some fun… I’m aware lots of people can find me there. Drop by and say hi or make fun of my avatar… Everyone’s doin’ it…

Busyness and thoughtfulness are poor companions. 31 megapixels is not enough

As I am just sitting around wondering how to spend the extra money that I have just sitting around, I came across this camera. Although it is “more affordable” than the 39 megapixel model, I think that I need to hold out for 50 megapixels. I think that these cameras would have a better price point and be a little more attractive to consumers if they stayed in the $500 per half megapixel range. With the 31 coming in at $24,995, I think I’ll wait for the 50 to come in at that price, before I jump on it.

Seriously, WOW!

As a side note, I recently joined the Seattle Flickrites group on Meetup.com. I joined just before this writeup in the Seattle PI. Maybe in the coming months I’ll be learning more about pictures and cameras and all that fun stuff. I haven’t attended any meetings or photowalking yet, but I plan to very soon.
