blog and web site consolidation is in order

I know there are “a few” readers out there. And, as such, I’m alerting you that I’m going to be doing some blog and web site consolidations.

Over the years I have had various online sites and have made a few transitions. I have liked the various URL’s and hosting setups that I’ve had over time. However, I’ve come to like “simple” a lot more. I also think that all of the sites and blogs would benefit from being consolidated to make it easier for readers to find things.

I don’t know how it will all shake out just yet. I would like to see one primary URL with a corresponding primary blog that is associated with that one primary URL. And, I don’t know exactly when I’ll make the time for the transitions. I do know they’re coming, and now you’ve been alerted.

New Feature: Email Subscriptions!

WordPress has added a great new feature: Email Subscriptions! Over the next few days, I’ll be rolling this out onto the various blogs I administer. (UPDATE: You’ll find it in the left navigation column here on this particular blog.) It’s a great way for readers to follow along and manage their own subscription. What a great way to let people follow in another medium that works for them! Kudos, to WordPress and their continuing great features.

Online Social Sabbatical

Theme Testing

It’s an early Sunday morning and I’m testing themes for this blog (and maybe others too). I think it’s time to change it up…

UPDATE: Well, that was relatively short lived. I went back to the same theme I was using before, because it has the things I want for Archives as well as an email form that works on the Contact page.

Christmas Theme

Hey, it’s back! I just setup the Christmas theme here on this blog, along with snow falling. It’s so fitting, especially as I’m back in Minnesota and it’s a snowy, winter wonderland outside, right now. Enjoy it while it lasts!

more geek stuff

UPDATE: 12/14/2008: Another big change… This blog got rebranded… Now, it’s TechProfound. Guess what?! It’ll all just work…

Here’s a quick note to mention a bit of a change happening here on Tweblog.com. I’m going to start posting more geek stuff and more work related things. With my new job (Stay tuned for more on that soon!) and with the creation of MegaDrivel.com, I am branching off “because i got stuff to say” as a separate blog. Now, Tweblog.com will be tagged as “geek w/ social skillz” and MegaDrivel.com will be tagged as “because i got stuff to say”. Of course, I can always do whatever I want with both blogs. I’m just trying to segment some different passions into different places. If it works, cool! If it doesn’t work, oh well. For now, it is what it is. Enjoy!

UPDATE 11/22/2008: I set this post to be “sticky” and stay at the top of the home page. I’m just doing this for a little while, during the transition… There are new posts, right below this one!

In the interest of generating conversation and helping spur writing ideas, I’m using a new feature called “sticky posts” that keeps a specific post stuck to the front page. I’m sure I’ll learn many other ways to use this. Right now I think it’s a cool idea and a nice way to feature content.
