I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

This web 2.0 stuff is not new.

It’s just re-engineered magic!

OK, it is new.  But, my point is that there was just as much cool, new web stuff going on back in the 90′s.  It’s just taken quite a while for bandwidth to catch up, for adoption to make roots, and for us Americans to fight and resist change.

Remembering Broadcast.com – Blog Maverick – Mark Cuban’s old Broadcast.com background is pretty interesting.  There’s a marketing video as well as a slide deck used for potential investors.  That’s back before it sold for Billions of dollars.

I think the most striking thing I got from it was how much work was done with such limited bandwidth.  The creativity and ingenuity to make that model work well and to provide the services is great.  But, it was even greater with the older constraints.

I want to learn how to help change happen, not just make cool technology work.  There’s a difference in the motivations and the financial implications.  I need to keep being aware of many various impacts on “new” thinking and “change management.”
