I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

coffee

In the interest of mental health and lowering the frustration level a little bit, I’m pausing the irregularly scheduled programming for a few minutes.  I need to make coffee and relax and enjoy…

…all of the extra dialogue boxes with Vista

…all of the joys of x 64 and learning what programs are not compatible

…all of the speed coming from a clean install of a new OS

…all of the many new ways I am going to be more productive …eventually

…all of this hyperbolic thinking that happens …before I have my coffee  :P

I’m also using the actual web site for WordPress.com to enter this, because I haven’t yet installed Windows Live Writer, which is what I have been using since it came out some months ago.  I hope it works for 64 bit Vista, otherwise I’ll have some more fun learning another new program.

…Boy, isn’t it fun to try to model all this good advice about change and dealing with new things and dealing with technology?  Well, if I want to say, “Hey, I’ve done it.” or “Hey, I understand that pain.”  I should go through this, and see what it’s like.

  1. Hey Toby,

Someone has left a comment on your blog. Cancel or Allow?
    :P

If you find the barrage of allow/deny popups annoying, you can turn off User Account Control (UAC).

Many developers have not been developing with the UAC in mind, so sometimes you will get random program crashes or hangs. Disabling UAC on my laptop fixed a bunch of app crashes/hangs.
