I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

MORON fear tactics

RE: Silica – “…we recommend unplugging your router now, selling the house and kids and moving to a mountain cave before it’s too late.”  ~ Engadget

Hah!  Um, yeah.  This is a little bit more on the topic of Silica, but, the title here is meant to look like moron, as in not smart.  I mentioned this product a couple days ago.  Engadget did it today it in a fun way, at the end of their post.

Devices like this have been around a while.  The individual things they do have been around even longer.  What makes Silica more threatening, cool, useful, powerful, helpful… is that it combines multiple functions, reporting, and a small form factor.

All this can be secured with simple safeguards that are already built into your current technology devices.  This once again shows how education and preparation to deal with change and to deal with new technology are needed on a broad scale.  It also shows how technology needs to simplify so that end users can be safe.  It needs to be simple so people understand it and use it.
