I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Google is dominant. Google is a major player.

Like most mornings, I’m reading some blog comments and reading some blog posts.  Many this morning are about Google and about various opinions related to Google’s positioning itself in people’s minds and on people’s computers.  (UPDATE: fodder: here, here, here, here)  I have a couple quick thoughts and opinions of my own.

  1. Google is dominant.  The reason they are dominant is because they make good products and services, and people use them and like them.  That is what makes them dominant.  I think that is a good reason to be dominant.
  2. Google is a major player.  People get very emotional about each move that Google makes.  The reactions and accusations and criticisms are heating up, because people realize (conscious or subconscious) that Google is dominant now, or is becoming so.  I think it’s ok to have different opinions.  That’s part of life.  Regardless, Google is a major player.

I hope that Google keeps listening, and keeps making good products and services.  That sounds pretty simple to me.  Now, I’m going back to more reading.
