I’ll be as nice as possible here. The bad press is from me. I had a bit more email discussion with them, and I certainly said a lot more to them in my emails. This post is just to wrap this up for me, and to move on.
I wrote about this, trying to get the situation resolved. They responded directly to me via email. They fixed some of the details for a couple Alerts I had setup, as a publisher. However, the big way that I use the alerts, to send me an email, is not working for my alerts. (I subscribed to my own alerts to see if they work correctly now.) I tested it as much as I could for my own alerts. I emailed back to them, as promptly as I could (usually within hours).
The facts are simple. For my needs, they do not publicly support Windows Live Alerts with simple support links or public email references. They use generic help info that didn’t get me anywhere helpful. Their blog is very outdated. And, even when the alerts do work, they are far more complicated than Google Alerts and Yahoo Alerts.
Sorry, <Insert long, annoying, Microsoft mega-branding name here.> Windows Live Alerts. You just didn’t cut it and will not be getting my business or reference.
For anyone out there looking for an email address to help you with setup of your Windows Live Alerts, as an owner/publisher of the alert, I was given the email address noted below. As far as I know, this is the only place on the Internet where this email address is published.
Thanks for the feedback – please use the alertssu@microsoft.com email address in your post. Please remember this email address is for Alerts publisher support, end-users should go to http://alerts.live.com for support.
*Bummer!*
