I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Yeah, I’d like that.

People are the greatest asset.  Smart, alert organizations realize this.  What is your organization like?

Watch this video.  It’s about 8 minutes long.  It’s a Microsoft ad for People Ready in the Business & Industry section of their web site.  It’s talking about the greatest asset.

View the story of a top executive who focuses on processes and efficiency but forgets his people. Key employees quit. Customers look elsewhere. The business suffers. But the executive learns how well-chosen new technology can help motivate people and accelerate the business by connecting people to information on customers, inventory, shipping, and to each other. The lesson: Empower your people with the right tools and there’s no limit to what they can achieve.

I have often felt like on of the people that leaves, or thinks about leaving – mostly because the people that I’m working with or working for seamed to “not get it.”  The video mentioned above made me want to shout, “YES!  Like that!  Yea!”  It’s really not that dramatic, but it does get the point across, the point that I have often felt and have had an awkward time expressing.  I hope this message can get through to the decision makers and various heads of organizations.

I’m trying to shine the light.  I hope any business can learn and grow.  Whatever software or IT gets used, it is important to embrace dealing with change and dealing with where you want to be – not with what you have done and what is comfortable right now.

If we don’t embrace such things, we will not be comfortable tomorrow, or the next day, or the next…
