If they were organized and cleaner and simpler, they would be attractive. Right now they are ugly and disorganized. They are like a junior high kid. That’s their audience.
Why are you on myspace? Haven’t you grown out of your junior high years? Seriously, you do want to be more organized, and less ugly, right?
That’s why I don’t do myspace. I have an account, because one of my younger brothers posts there. MySpace makes you register in order to view pictures and see some things. So, I registered just for those reasons.
You won’t find me hanging around there very often. Seriously, I think I could design better pages and a better layout for almost every single myspace page I’ve ever looked at (which is probably about 100). And, I am not a graphic artist. I just can’t stand clutter and will not agree with anyone who tries to tell me that clutter is really better for anyone or anything at any time (period).

While I agree that MySpace is horribly ugly, I find the insinuation of being in “junior high” offensive.
Oddly enough, an article (http://www.comscore.com/press/release.asp?press=1019)
was posted a couple of weeks ago about the median age of MySpace getting older as opposed to the “junior high” audience you speak of.
It’s ugly. It’s full of ads. I use MySpace because it is one of the few ways I can keep track of my (large) family and network of friends. I can keep track of bands I want to see. I can reconnect with people I’ve been out of contact with for years.
Just two weeks ago, I found out about a show (albeit a pretty awful one) that friend from a couple of years back was playing at the Galway Arms in the University District. From MySpace.
And no, I don’t necessarily want to become the epitome of the organized person. I happen to like my method of organization. Of course, it happens to entail piles of things on the floor, but nevertheless, I can find things.
Offensive?
Hmmm… I didn’t intend to offend. Sorry.
I did tag my post with only one tag. Rants.
In junior high, people start to get more responsibility and start to deal more with consequences and start to become more like adults. When I look at myspace, I see what looks like life before most of those lessons are learned.
It simply is not true that clutter makes anything any better. We may all have areas in our lives where we deal with clutter. I argue that simplicity and organization and reduction of clutter is healthy.
I know you tagged it with Rant. You know I’m just trying to be difficult!
Dave, you can’t be difficult. You’re too nice!
Ooh… Burn! Dave is nice! Burn!
