I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

American Rhetoric

Having studied Speech Communications at the University of Minnesota, now finding a site of American Rhetoric is good fodder for various topics.  Being that it’s Friday…

American Rhetoric Movie Speeches

Is it possible to say that I am a fan of rhetoric, and yet detest the political shenanigans we constantly see and hear and read?  There is too much finger pointing going on, and not enough saying, “We messed up, and this is what we’re going to do to work towards a solution.”  I’m not talking about right versus left.  I’m not talking about picking any side.  I’m not talking about any particular administration or government.  I am talking about individuals taking personal responsibility to shut-up the next time they want to criticize.  Maybe you didn’t start anything.  But, you can change the world by not doing some things, and by not having trivial, ad hominem (appealing to people’s emotions and beliefs rather than their ability to think) arguments.

Now, can’t we all just get along.  Let’s just all watch Top Gun and say TGIF!  :)
