I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Change Resistance is a cancer.

I make no hesitation in making this statement.  Change Resistance is a cancer.  In life we all deal with change on a daily basis.  We either deal with it or we avoid it.  And we do either of those in varying degrees from acceptance to denial.

I’m messing with this blog’s theme (colors, background, layout, etc.) for no other reason than to make sure it changes.  I don’t want familiarity here.  I want to stay fresh.

A few years back, I was involved with the beginnings of a graphic design and multi-media company called Manna Studio.  Manna refers to a daily renewing of daily needs and ideas and focus.  For various reason, my direct involvement with that business dissipated.  That was a good thing and all part of what happens with business – - and with life.

Change will happen.  Perspectives will change, adapt and grow.  Perception is reality.  Go ahead and argue that point.  Your perception is what you deal with, and for you it is your reality.  With age and experience, I hope to learn how to accept and deal with change in better and wiser ways.

I have lost friends due to cancer.  I have friends that have cancer right now.  With all possible due respect, resisting change (both by me and anyone around me) is so unhealthy that it has impacted me far more than the actual health issues.  With health issues, people are confronted and they must deal.  With general change resistance, people can avoid and procrastinate and delay.

Crisis requires change.  Are going to let change resistance rule your life?  Or, are you going to let your colors shine and let your character out, in its midst.

I know I must continue to grow in this area.  Hopefully, I will learn how to keep listening and to keep challenging myself to deal with change in a healthy, wise way.

  1. [...] The thrill of trying something new and had never done before made me realize that I didn’t care about the (unfortunate) people in the audience! My endpoint is this: I believe it is absolutely necessary for us to face our fears, whatever they may be.  Be it change resistance or meeting new people, singing karaoke or a fear of heights.  Often, this presents a challenge for us to become better people and more well-rounded individuals better suited for the real world.  Facing that challenge is a good thing.  It will make us stronger.  I promise! 2. [...] Change. Hmmm… I’ve written before that Change Resistance is a Cancer. The problem is not that bloggers are one thing and mainstream media is another. The problem is that they both defend their turf and don’t always cooperate while doing it. [...]
