I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

emotional tug and journalistic approach

I’ve never in my life felt like a journalist before. I don’t know what it’s like to be part of the press. I cannot relate to the gripping desire some people have to “get the story out” while putting their own lives in danger. There is much about that which I have never experienced.

So, as I sit and dive into all of my distractions this morning, I have this really weird tug on me to blog about something that I may not agree with and may not know how to defend if asked why I wrote about it. It’s the sort of thing that I’m wondering if journalists feel or the press feels when they report on something and try to be objective, while at the same time they may have vastly different personal opinions. Maybe this is something that is common for them. It is not common for me.

Here’s the scoop of info…

In reading Manamania this morning, there was a post with some maps. Those maps were published by a site with the title, “Updates on the Aggressing Against Lebanon“.

Here is where I am not a journalist…

That title is wrong. The stuff going on between Israel and Lebanon is not about Israel versus Lebanon. It is about Israel versus Hezbollah and against terror.

A pawn is a very valuable chess piece. Right now, Lebanon is a pawn of Hezbollah, and Hezbollah is trying to move that pawn across the board and turn it into a more valuable piece. Despicable.

I have many more opinions. My journalistic hat just got put back on. I didn’t even know I had one. I don’t want to get into a flame war or a blogging battle regarding such emotional and political “stuff”. This is hot. This is a challenge for me to absorb, much less feel like my opinion carries any weight here.

I do have opinions on this. And, I do have my perspective. I’m sitting in Bellevue, in Washington State. I feel no threats and when an airplane flies overhead, I look up and see the pontoons on the bottom of it and wonder where their nice house on Lake Washington is.
