Hey Aaron~ (Or, anyone else who wants to chime in, please do!)
We’ve had some previous conversation about leadership. I came across a few articles via Encarta.
- What Is a Leader?
“…The irreducible minimum definition of a leader is someone with followers, but that bare bones formulation prompts the question: Why do some people–and not others–attract followers?…” - Can Leadership Be Learned?
“…Humans clump into groups and follow someone; that’s our nature….” and “…If you want to be a leader, schooling can give you the bones, flesh, and skin of leadership, but you have to bring the spirit.” - Majoring in Leadership
“What if Genghis Khan had gone to college?…”
In an effort to learn more and to understand more about effective leadership, some of the perspectives presented in those articles is interesting. One thing I noted was how “leadership” as a general term and from my experience, tends to evoke itself as a positive thing. Yet, in all reality, leadership is neutral. The results of leadership may be pro or con – or neutral. I’m trying to learn more about how to have positive experiences, both in my own leadership and personal growth, and also in the company of others as I will often need to be under the authority and influence of various forms of leadership.
I’m curious what you think about these? I’m not really searching for agreement or dissent, but more just looking for other input.
