I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

Microsoft sucks at naming things.

Get the corporate out of the room.

Get the unique, crazy, passionate in the room.

Throw things at the corporate and keep them away.

Take the craziest names from those passionate.

Run with those!

This blah blah blah dot blah blah blah dot blah blah blah <insert year here> <insert version named with really boring by the year here> stuff has just gotta go. I don’t care what patents or what languages or what globalization is needed. The names that come from Microsoft really suck. They are bad.

And now since Scoble has left MS, is there anyone there monitoring “Microsoft Sucks” to listen to it?

Example: “Virtual Earth” … Eeeaah, that’s sort of ok. “http://local.live.com” … That sucks and is totally lame and is hard to remember. I would bet $100 that more than half of the employees at Microsoft don’t know what the URL is for “Virtual Earth” or don’t know that Origami became UMPC.

Well, now I’m 2 cents poorer.
