I’m at the busiest Starbucks in the world. This store does more business in a day than many small businesses do in an entire year – or even several years. They are open 24 hours. They are located by people – by the University of Washington and near Seattle. And, they have great service.
It’s a beautiful day, and I wanted to be around people, have online access near, and to write. That’s how I’m spending some of my morning hours on my 34th birthday. It was very nice to be woken up this morning by a call from my mom. We don’t talk on the phone that often, so it’s always good to hear her voice. Shortly after that call, a few others came in. I wanted coffee while chatting on the phone. But, I’d run out. That sprung the creative thinking into action, where I thought of enjoying the beautiful weather and getting out for a drive and just chillin’.
The drive across the 520 bridge was beautiful. Seeing the Olympic mountains and then turning north onto I-5 and still seeing the Olympics on the left with the Cascades on the right – with Lack Union on the left and Lake Washington on the right… Oooh-la-la!
For now, this is just what I am wanting. It’s low stress. It’s low key. And, God’s beauty is all around me – from the mountains and lakes, to the little shorties (kids walking with their parents, and asking all sorts of questions), to the elderly couples on dates, to the college kids flirting over a cup-o-java. <Insert geek humor here.> I got a laptop full of java!
Here is my birthday wish. I hope your day is pleasant, and I hope that you can take time to appreciate all the great things that God has blessed you with. It’s not always nice, and it’s not always fun. Many times it’s actually very hard and trying. But, all the time, God has a plan for you, and you are loved and desired.
Isaiah 40:28-31
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
