I write this blog. It does not represent anyone else's opinions or perspectives. Regardless of employers or clients or any other associations, this is my blog and it does not speak for anyone else. I have learned that perception is more powerful than reality. So, we get to experience the joys of claiming and disclaiming. Isn't that super!

an idea to make GPS better

Maybe somebody has thought of this.  Maybe somebody will make money off this.  I just want to see it happen to make getting places easier, faster, safer, and smarter.

Here’s the idea:  Take GPS (Global Positioning System) and make a naming system for latitude and longitude that is something like DNS (Domain Naming System).  DNS uses computers to reconcile IP addresses so that people can remember something easier (like tweblog.com is easier to remember than some batch of numbers with a dot between every few numbers).  Make GPS have a naming system like that so users could just take whatever GPS navigation system they are using in their hand, car, computer, phone, watch, home, etc…. and just enter maybe gps.tweblog.com to find the lat and long and could get where they want to go.  It doesn’t mater to me what the exact final outcome is for naming it, but I think it would improve the system to have a friendly, accessible, easy to use way to identify and publish locations.

If anyone knows of anything like this, let me know.  I have no idea if this is original or not, but I have not heard of anyone else doing anything like it.  I’ve only done a little bit of research on it.  I’m curious.
