Well, I do feel stupid on this one.
Yesterday I “discovered” an awesome beach that is about 20 minutes from my place (depending on traffic, of course). I’d honestly say that it is about 10 times better than the Lake Calhoun/Lake Harriet/Lake of the Isles area in Minneapolis, mostly because it has a real beach, you can have fires on it, it’s on sea water, etc. It has an awesome sunset view, and also the best view of the Seattle skyline I’ve come across, especially at night.
For some buddies that have visited me here in the Seattle area — For Pete and Westy, going to Vancouver was fun, and Vancouver as a city has a ton of great things to do and see. For Kris, going to Ocean Shores for the real ocean is fun for much bigger beaches and to drive on the beach. However, to live somewhere for 3+ years and then “discover” that there is a nice beach this close is rather silly. I don’t know why I have never been there until last night, while out on a cruise on my motorcycle.
It’s called Alki Beach, in case you ever are out here visiting, and want to “head to the beach” and only have it take 20 minutes! Doh!
